Til hamingju, Hera Björk!

Samt eđlilegra ađ viđ Íslendingar tölum um Evróvisjón en Júróvisjón, ţar sem viđ köllum álfuna okkar Evrópu en ekki Júrop (Europe).

Á "íslensku" evrumyntinni verđur hins vegar ađ standa EURO en viđ Íslendingar getum ađ sjálfsögđu haldiđ áfram ađ tala um evrur og sett vangamynd af Davíđ Oddssyni, fyrrverandi seđlabankastjóra, á "okkar" evrumynt.

Steini minn.

"In 1963, Norway and the United Kingdom applied for membership in the European Economic Community (EEC). When France rebuffed the UK's application, accession negotiations with Norway, Denmark, Ireland and the UK were suspended. This happened twice.

Norway completed its negotiations for the terms to govern a Norwegian membership in the EEC on 22 January 1972.

Following an overwhelming parliamentary majority in favour of joining the EEC in early 1972, the government decided to put the question to a popular referendum, scheduled for September 24 and 25.

The result was that 53.5% voted against membership and 46.5% for it."

"Norway entered into a trade agreement with the community following the outcome of the referendum. That trade agreement remained in force until Norway joined the European Economic Area in 1994.

On 28 November 1994, yet another referendum was held, narrowing the margin but yielding the same result: 52.2% opposed membership and 47.8% in favour, with a turn-out of 88.6%."

"Norway experienced rapid economic growth [...] from the early 1970s, a result of exploiting large oil and natural gas deposits that had been discovered in the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea.

Today, Norway ranks as the third wealthiest country in the world in monetary value, with the largest capital reserve per capita of any nation. Norway is the world’s fifth largest oil exporter, and the petroleum industry accounts for around a quarter of its GDP.

Following the ongoing financial crisis of 2007–2010, bankers have deemed the Norwegian krone to be one of the most solid currencies in the world."

"The economic crisis in Iceland involved all three of the country's major banks. Relative to the size of its economy, Iceland’s banking collapse is the largest suffered by any country in economic history."
